The Graduate School Dedicated to the Art of Teaching

The Union Graduate College School of Education focuses primarily on the art of teaching at the secondary level. We offer five degree programs: Master of Arts in Teaching, Master of Science for Teachers of Mathematics and Science, Master of Arts in English, Master of Arts in History, and Master of Arts in English and History. All are renowned for their rigor and quality-and for graduating teachers and professionals who are among the most qualified and sought after in the field.

Program highlights:
  • Our year-long, mentored internship for MAT students is the only one of its kind in New York State for secondary school teachers. Our students graduate with a full year of secondary school teaching experience. That's a considerable advantage both in the classroom and on the job market. Some districts will consider hiring graduates on a higher level of the salary scale because of the extra experience UGC candidates have.
  • Because our internship coincides with the school year, students graduate in June, ready and available to start teaching in September.
  • The Union Graduate College program was designed by teachers and is taught by proven practitioners who excel in their subject matter and in the classroom. UGC has seventeen National Board Certified teachers on its full-time and part-time faculty.
  • Small class sizes and attentive faculty ensure that students' individual needs are met.
  • Our MAT, MS, and MA programs are aligned with National Board Certification standards and principles and serve as a model for certification programs in New York State.
  • The Union Graduate College School of Education is the first in New York State to be accredited by the national Teacher Education Accreditation Council (TEAC).
  • On a per-credit basis, Union Graduate College programs are a better value than comparable programs at other private institutions. Our students graduate with 53 credits but only pay tuition for 40.
To learn more about our MAT, MS, and MA programs, schedule an interview. You'll see, firsthand, why Union Graduate College is the first choice of so many aspiring teachers-and of so many school districts.
