Annual Scholarship Campaign
How You Can Help. Alumni and friends can play a vital role
in the graduate experience of a student by sponsoring a scholarship.
Scholarships help the Graduate College attract bright, qualified students
from a variety of backgrounds. In some cases, scholarships provide access
to a “Union Graduate College Education” for students who might not
otherwise be able to enroll in our programs.
Lackey Circle of Scholars
Lauren A. Lackey, a successful entrepreneur,
earned a Master’s Degree in Industrial
Administration in 1973 when the program was
offered through the Institute for Administration
and Management. The education he received has
served as the foundation for his business accomplishments.
As a graduate student, he received
scholarship support, and he is very appreciative
to the program for supporting him in this way.
Mr. Lackey is so grateful that he wants to help
support other students and has offered a
$50,000 scholarship challenge match to
alumni and friends of the Graduate College.
Named ($2500) Scholarships will be matched
1:1 (a minimum of 10 needed for challenge) and
the students who receive these scholarships will
be part of the Lackey Circle of Scholars. They
will be from among the top students, based upon
need and merit, in their respective disciplines.
2012-2013 Lackey Scholars will receive:
- A $5,000 scholarship named after Mr. Lackey and the other scholarship donor (i.e. The John A. Smith Scholarship in the Lackey Circle of Scholars)
- An invitation to a reception hosted by Mr. Lauren Lackey
- Lunch with president Laura Schweitzer
- Admission to the Schenectady Chamber of Commerce Annual Dinner (held in January)
- Recognition in the Commencement Program for both the scholarship recipient and the scholarship donors
Named Scholarships ($2,500)
A gift of $2,500 will provide a Named Scholarship

based on need and merit, in the fall term.

themselves or someone
they wish to honor—

Union Graduate College has
a long-standing tradition of
providing financial assistance
to our students. The Graduate
College allocates a portion of
its institutional resources each
year to support scholarships
and tuition waivers. The
recent economic landscape
has imposed many financial
challenges on our students and
their families, and the need
for scholarship support has
become greater than ever.
